An Appropriate Title

Posted December 27th, 2008 by Vicki 1 Comment

The title for the last entry pretty much says it all. Here it is, December 27th already…In one way it seems as if this year would never end, and in another way, it seems that this year has gone by so quickly. So many things have changed, both for the good and for the bad, but I would have to say mostly good.

I have a some new friends, which is something rather different for me. Bobbi and Haley are totally amazing, and I find that I have quite a lot in common with them, which is so awesome, because usually I’m kind of odd man out on fitting in with people. They both live in Texas, but different parts. I met them in the chatroom on The Homeschool Lounge. We are kind of like the 3 muskateers, because we talk so much with each other. I don’t think I could ask for better friends than them as they are always ready to pray with and for me, always ready to lend an ear, offer support and advice, and just be happy with who I am. They don’t try to act like they are perfect, or have never made mistakes, they are real people, whom I have come to love very much. I thank God for bringing them into my life!!

I also have a friend right here in my town. I know, shock of all shocks!! I haven’t had a real, true friend in this town since my cousin Sonia ran off…*LOL*…MH and I have seen each other around for several months, but hadn’t done much more than say hello in passing…and than acouple of weeks ago, we got to talking, and well, now we talk almost every night. He’s a very sweet fellow, and I’m glad that he’s a part of my life. Now, no one needs to be jumping to conclusions, as we are just friends, people getting to know each other. I’m glad he’s my friend, and I’m glad that I can be a friend to me!

Anyway, I guess I’m outta here for now…I need to try and sleep some.

Time Flies

Posted December 22nd, 2008 by Vicki No Comments

Wow, I didn’t realize it had been so long since I had been in here. Time sure does fly, although I’m not quite sure when it does. It always seems like I have a million things to get done, and yet a lot of them don’t get done when I want them to. Thinking back it seems I have plenty of time to sit around and read or do many other things, and yet it also seems as if we never have time to get anything done.

I guess in one way, whatever is waiting to get done, will still be waiting when we have time to do it. And for not getting anything done, well, the house looks pretty decent, the girls are decently educated, and we still have time to live and enjoy life.

Well, I guess I’d best be off to enjoy more life, or maybe this is the time when I’m supposed to be getting things done…*LOL*

Battling the Flu

Posted December 14th, 2008 by Vicki No Comments

Well, in all actuality I don’t know if it’s the flu, or a cold, or a virus or what, but it’s aweful! Des started saying that she didn’t feel good Thursday, her throat was sore, breathing difficulties, and than she started running a fever. She ran a fever until Saturday morning. Saturday, I started not feeling well, and Des was on the road to recovery. I was running a fever yesterday, but don’t seem to have that problem today, thank God! I still feel kind of icky, stuffy nose/stuffy head, but not nearly as aweful as I felt yesterday. Des seems to be pretty well back to normal, thank God for that as well!!

Meg seems to have escaped this flu so far, but she did end up with an ear infection. She finishes up her antibiotics tonight, which is good. The antibiotics might be why she seems to have escaped this flu, but who knows.

All else here is okay. I will be calling the Dr Monday to set up an appointment with the orthopedist. You can read about all the ins and outs over at my Prairie Roses blog. One thing about having these wrist problems is that I am learning to trust God in a more complete way.

Well, I guess that’s about all for now.

Blessings to you all!!

Tradition-SS

Posted December 11th, 2008 by Vicki 1 Comment

With the holiday season upon us, many of us are thinking and planning for what we are all going to be doing.

My girls and I don’t have a lot of traditions when it comes down to it, but we do have a few. We always have a family dinner, just the 3 of us, it may not be on the actual day, but we always have a special dinner just us. I guess that is about the only tradition that we have right now, although there is always time to start new traditions.

My sister and I have a tradition of getting our Dad chocolate covered cherries for Christmas. That tradition started when I was just a young child, because it was something fairly cheap that we could get for him. That tradition continues even today, but sssshhhh, don’t tell Dad what he’ll be getting!!

Other than that, I’d like to start more baking traditions with the girls, and maybe more crafty ideas, like making an ornament of some kind or another for the tree every year, but who knows what will happen.

Traditions are all fine and dandy, enjoyable, fun, heartwarming, and all that, but what is most important is that God is the center of our lives and that family is our focus!

Blessings!

Earring Giveaway

Posted December 5th, 2008 by Vicki No Comments

One of the sweetest girls I know if having a giveaway over on her blog, so thought I’d pass the word along to those that want to hop over and visit Rachel at A City On A Hill. She is giving away some BEAUTIFUL HANDMADE earrings!!

She has several ways that you can enter the giveaway, and you can get more than one entry too! It’s great, they are so beautiful!

Rachel is a very sweet girl, and a very talented writer. She not only writes on her blogs, but also writes for Growing In Grace, which is an online magazine for young ladies. She has a love of God, and family. I truly enjoy Rachel’s blog posts, and the articles that she writes, as they are very “human” but yet aspiring to be more like the God we serve. I think a great many people could learn a lot from her!

So, anyway, I’ve rambled on enough about her, and better get this post up…After all, I want another chance to win those beautiful earrings!!

Blessings everyone!!
